Went into my closet today—OK, I do that every day—and wanted to haul all the old dump-frumpy, too conservative, hideous print, too tight crap OUT! However, that would leave me with a handful of items in black.
This birthday is going to be difficult. When I was younger, I imagined my life working out a little bit differently– pictured a lovely image of an older me. This hideous cardigan I’m now holding in my hands is not how I visualized myself!
In my mind, I would be oh so sophisticated, have perfect smooth stylish hair, wear Donna Karan ( NOT DKNY) , sip martinis, and be serene about my life.
Yogi Berra says when you come to a fork in the road, take it! I took the wrong one! I should have taken the intricately designed silver dessert fork–a symbolic utensil that would indicate how sweet and easy my life could be. I evidently grabbed the all-purpose stainless steel fork. Good for spearing at life’s problems, picking them up and dealing with them. Durable. Strong. No tarnish. Good for all occasions. Multi-purpose.
Maybe, I did choose the correct fork.
So back to my closet. I vow to get rid of anything that does not project the image I see in my head. I may take me a bit longer to get dressed in the morning…
First stop, Neiman Marcus’s Last Call—it just opened up in our city. Maybe, I’ll find a fashion-forward, designer bargain.
